Happily Cooking Away!

Fire-Roasted Tomato Soup And Grilled Cheese Croutons

Seeing as how we live in California, the sunshine and warm weather will be here any time now to take over the rainy wet season of spring, so we thought we would cook up this soup recipe. I say "we" because I requested Ken's services to help me. And here's the explanation why that is.

We had just got back from a 60 minute couples massage, and afterwards I had felt very emotional and had myself a good cry. I wasn't in any pain either. Poor Ken had to endure my frustrations as I was being sensitive about everything! I had no idea where my silly, sensitive tears came from, until I did my research and come to find out that massages can release emotions that have been built up in muscle memory tissue. It is a very normal response a body can undergo as the muscles have been stimulated by pressure and it's an emotional release, interesting enough! Has anybody else experienced anything like that before?

Anyways, getting back to the soup, as I mentioned Ken & I were busy cooking in the kitchen because I just still wasn't feeling entirely myself. He was able to fry up the croutons and that left me to focus on the soup preparations! Team work makes the dream work! The interesting thing about this soup is that it called for heavy cream and I accidentally bought buttermilk instead! Whoops! I usually do a better job at reading labels! Come on, Savannah! Keep it together! All in all, the soup turned out flavorful and nourishing and it also had a good consistency and texture! The soft cheese croutons made for an excellent accompaniment as well! For dinner tonight, I ended up boiling up some pasta and using the left over "soup-sauce" to make a red sauce pasta!
